Pub Test (publisher) Adsense ads

I can't find a darn thing on Google or here at DP even thought I am about 80% sure I read it here.

I don't want to click on the ads I just want to see them on my site for layout and testing purposes. In the past I have just used jpg screen captures but this site is dynamic and browser re-sizable so I would like to use live ads.

I know I have seen something like pubtest as the Google ID # but can't find any reference to it.

Does Google have a predefined channel that one can use when merely testing a new site layout?

    or

Do I just create a channel of my own called pubtest?

    TIA

I'm not aware of a method to actually show test Adsense ads on your site itself. Creating a different channel won't make any different, you will still earn from it if you use your pub-id. The channel is just a name you assign to a specific page/site/ad unit, so it doesn't make a difference on how the ads are handled.

You can find an Adsense sandbox page on some sites where you can enter a URL and they will show you possible ads that will show on your site. However this is not available to show realtime ads or different ad layouts on your actual site pages.

This comment is purely a joke and not to be taken seriously:

Why don't you just go steal someone elses pulisher ID, and use it while your testing, make sure to use a publisher with a lot of traffic, so they won't notice.

**Don't actually do this, I was joking.

I've always just gone ahead and test it out with the actual ads. Is there a reason you don't want to do this?

I notice you did not include any sites in the sig line.:)

Thanks to all. I must have dreamed it. I thought I recalled seeing something. Maybe I just recall someone saying they used test like mentioned above.

Guess I will just use the live ones. Won't be that many page views antway.

Yep, I'd go ahead and just test it out like Jack Burton said. Google has said that adsense publishers are free to view their site as they need to to work with it and test things out and not worry about generating invalid impressions for CPM ads, just as long as they don't click the ad itself.
