Hi all I have olny been using Adwords for a week, so forgive any ignorance here. I noticed after 80 clicks I had not managed a sale, so I checked my landing page. The link was corrupt - bogus! No probs, I paused all keywords, repaired the link, and resumed the keywords. Now, 24 hours later even though the ads show up in Google searches, the only clicks I have gained are the three that I made myself when testing after resuming. Did I do something wrong?
You're talking about the Destination Link, right? If only that changed (and truly is a good link), I can't think of any reason you shouldn't get clicks. However, if you changed your Display Link, maybe something about the Display Link is less attractive to users seeing your ad. Are you certain nothing else changed?
Yes I'm talking about the destination link. I don't know what happened to it, but I decided to test it, and went to a blank page, so I changed it to the correct one. Adwords has been reporting impressions as normal. I didn't change the display link, or indeed anything else. Does the destination link make a difference to listings?
Has your average position changed? If you're seeing a decrease in ctr and all you did is change the destination url odds are it's tied to a drop in average position.
Changing your URL to less 'relevant' one would impact your Quality Score, so this could well lead to a fall in position.
