........... Psychologists say Israel's three-week offensive inflicted more severe trauma than previous conflicts in Gaza because civilians in the crowded sliver of territory had no safe place to run. A wartime study among hundreds of Gaza children showed a rise in nightmares, bedwetting and other signs of trauma, said psychologist Fadel Abu Hein. Counselors and aid workers fear that Gaza's children, who make up 56 percent of the 1.4 million people here, will grow up hating Israel and become easier prey for extremists. "We are losing the next generation," said John Ging, the top U.N. aid official in Gaza. As a buffer against militancy, U.N. schools are launching human rights classes for their 200,000 students this week. Children and teens were particularly vulnerable in Israel's military offensive, launched Dec. 27 to try to halt eight years of Hamas rocket fire on towns in southern Israel. The rocket attacks have frightened children there and frequently sent them running for cover. In Gaza, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights counted 280 children among 1,285 dead and said one in four of the more than 4,000 wounded was a minor. ................. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090125/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_gaza_children_of_war How come the Jewish Israelis are fighting Hamas only but the majority of the victims are children? I don't want my tax money to be spent helping Israel's war on humanity.
Somebody put this graffiti up near where I live in London... (great photo too - but I didn't take it!)
That's for sure, the illegal state of Israel is the biggest factory of hate in the world, this Palestinian girl got a heart attack at the age of 14, because of the Israeli bombing of civilian houses. Name of martyr: Christine Turk Age: 14 years old Date of Death: Friday, January 2 , 2009 Place of Death: Shujaya neighborhood, east of Gaza Cause of Death: Morning air strikes hit six houses near Christine's home making her live with non- stop nightmares. Christine died apparently of a heart attack, terrified by an explosion which rocked her house. Details of the Last Hours: The pictures show Palestinians attending the funeral of Christine Turk, in Deir al-Laten Church in Gaza.
I am thinking why don't Arab countries absorb Palestine into their jurisdiction and help develop Gaza and West Bank? The citizens of these areas suffered tremendously throughout the decades, it will definitely be helpful if the Arab world come together to help out rather than see the violence occurring again again and again. Israel will also certainly benefit from a prosperous and stable Gaza and West Bank.
I just posted a little thread on Jordan's latest move regarding Hamas. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1205844
The reason is very clear, and it's been expressed by both the Late King Hussein and King Abdullah II in several occasions, any type of unity will not happen until there is a Palestinian state, this is to keep the rights of Palestinians in having their own state on their own land.
There is cure for Hamas. It is called - "Treat the Palestinians like Human Beings." Then no one will have the motivations to join them. But now with the latest numerous war crimes and destruction in Gaza, Hamas will get even more support. May be that's what Israel with this leadership wanted - a war with no end.
GTech, and browntown, what would you do if this girl was your daughter? (BTW, May God keep your children alive and well if you have any.)
