Hi, I am working on the marketing for x10media and I'd like to ear you about legal issues related to the copyright of content. We bought and see people buying content on DP for PLR articles, Web Templates, Megapack of content, DB etc. Did you ever encounter any issues reselling this outside of the forum? thanks
I would bet that 99.9% of the stuff you see on dp was not created as their own, more then like they bought it elsewhere, scrapped it off other sites, then bring it back to DP to sell. honestly, you never know who you are really buying from, or where the content actually come from or who it was ripped off of...even though most even claim they are the creator, never trust anyone, people are here for one reason, to make a buck...some are even honest enought to say, this is where I got it from, and I have resell rights so not to be accused of anything, so if you see some "mega content" going around, more then likely he himself bought it from someone at DP, or got the content elsewhere and is not selling it on DP.
If you bought the full rights of the material, you own it outright and can do with it whatever you'd like. If you only bought unique, usage, or one time rights, you can't do anything, other than use it as it was intended, retaining the author's byline. One thing writers can do to protect themselves from unauthorized use of their content is to set up a Google Alert for key phrases within the piece. You will be alerted when that phrase is used somewhere, detected by the Googlebot. It's not enough to just set an alert for the title because, with stolen content, it is common practice for thieves to change the title on the piece while leaving the content intact.
