Simple clean and funky design. Though i noticed you are using a theme? So i've got to ask how many changes to the design have you done? Good to hear the tutorials are original and your own work. I take it your more of a photoshop user then a web developer? Either way good luck and i hope your have success.

 

I'd remove the Advertise here gray boxes or put your ads in there until you get real advertisers. It makes your site look unfinished and very new. Otherwise good design and some nice tutorials

The website currently uses a modified theme that we tried to modify. At this moment we are satisfied with the design as a lot of work has went into the whole website.

if by subscription widget you mean for feeds. Try feedburner that way users can subscribe by email to your feed.
