Ok... So I am running into some issues here. My site (see sig) is up and running, and I plan to put some more work into it. It was finally indexed by google today, and all is good. It is getting crawled every 2-3 hours etc. Why do I still have PSAs? I mean, I know the ads are out there, and when I initially set up the site with alot less content per page, I was getting perfectly relevant ads. Last day and a half, however, I've been getting nothing at all. What could be doing this. Oh yeah, you've probably figured this out already by the rest of this post - I am an adsense n00b. Thanks for any help you can give! Brian
The adsense tool states that there are, and also, I had them for a few hours. Come on man - wouldn't *you* like to swim with a dolphin? (j/k) I was actually getting good clicks on them too.
I would love to swim with a dolphin but I doubt I can keep up with them. It'll be like racing a Z06 Corvette with a Mini. To avoid the PSA, you should set some kind of default ads.
If you belong to any other ad network, you can default to them. This way if Google has no ads for you, it will just load up the other network. When making your adsense code in your control panel there is a place call "Alternate URL" That is where you enter the URL for the 3rd party ad network codes. If you don't belong to another ad network and don't want the PSA to show up, you can just enter a "Color code" as an alternate. Make this code the same color as your background (white). Now instead of showing a PSA, it will just be blank.
Take your pick www.burstmedia.com www.tribalfusion.com www.fastclick.com www.vibrantmedia.com www.kontera.com www.industrybrains.com And of course, there's also my network: www.ttzmedia.com But I don't think you have enough traffic to get in.
yes - I have seen most of those. I just wish I knew how they integrated with adsense. I would want to use them as the alternate URL... I just signed up with alterneURL.com, we'll see how they work out for when I have PSA's...
It's pretty simple. Each site gives you their ad code. Save the ad code as a webpage. For example, say you have an account with tribalfusion, copy their ad code into a text file, save the file as tribal.html (or whatever you want) and upload it to your server. If you place this file in your root folder the URL to it would be yourdomain.com/tribal.shtml. That is your alternate URL For me, my Tribal default is located at http://www.thetechzone.com/ad-data/tribal.html
Ok - thanks for the tip! I have set up my page with alternateURL.com ads, end for the most part they are decently targeted. They pay is extremely low though - about $0.02 per click. If they have ads, Google must as well. I wonder why google won't display any? Is it worth switching over to one of the others? Brian
2 cents a click???? Are their ads even targetted? Remember, Google only displays targetted ads. If they don't have any, then they will show a PSA or alternate.
yeah - i know it's low. But check the page. Google has come back in *AS SOON AS I PUT THE ALTERNATE ADS IN* for some of my ads. The ones alternateURL.com is doing are pages without enough content anyways...
Don't know what changed but I see nicely related ads on most of your pages. The home page ads are a little off-topic but you could beef up the content on that page to get more relevant ads, like the other pages. My guess is that, at first, you simply were not indexed and were therefore getting PSAs. Sometimes it takes Google a couple of days to get around to creating relevant ads.
Yes - I am going to start beefing up the content more soon... Once I get a couple more assignments out of the way!
