PS3 Owners..Answer some questions?

Okay, so I've finally decided I'm purchasing the Wal-Mart PS3 bundle on Black Friday, which brings:

    PS3 Slim (120 GB)
    Controller
    The Dark Knight (Blu-Ray DVD)
    Batman: Arkham Asylum (Game)
    inFamous (Game)

All for $299..good deal, huh? ;)

    My questions:

    • Does the PS3 come with an HDMI cable? If it doesn't, can you use any (because I see some on slickdeals.net for like $5) and if so, will it affect the picture?
    • Is it necessary to have a "blu-ray Sony remote" in order to play DVD's, or does it make it more comfortable..is it necessary, though?
    • How does the recharging of controllers/battery life work? I plan on buying an extra but I'm just curious
    • I know it's not backwards compatible (can't play PS2 games) but you can download PS1 ones online..how does that work? Is there a big selection, is it free?

I've researched this, but all I find are those lame yahoo question/answer things in the google searches..so..PS3 owners, help a soon-to-be-owner out!!

    :)

no it doesn't come with HDMI cable unless it says so, its not necessary to buy the remote, just use controller for DVD playback. It comes with a usb cable to connect controller and console to recharge.

you can download PS1 games and store in the harddrive and no its not free don't be stupid

Then according to you, you're wrong. $299 is the regular price for the PS3, no games, no extras, no bundle (at least here in the US). For this price, I'm getting two games (good ones, too) and a blu-ray movie of one of my favorite movies. That's a good deal.

lol thanks for the quick answers promob..can you just use any HDMI cable, though, or do you need the Sony one??

just get one from dollar store, there was reviews back then when they compared a $10 one vs a $100+ monster HDMI cable...same shit..worse case you buy another one

You can also buy original ps1 discs to play. The remote to play dvd's isn't necessary.

    :D :D :D

As far as battery life goes, they last long enough for it not to be an issue. I've got a standard PS3 controller and a Dual Shock 3, and I barely ever charge them - and when I do, I just plug them into my PC (which is nearly always on) for an hour or two. In terms of abuse, I treat my controllers like crap, and they're both still working fine.

I'm starting to think that COD4 is better than MW2. But buy them both anyway. COD4 is easily one of the best games I've played in the last 20 years. I'd been out of the gaming loop since the SNES, and it was COD4 that pulled me back in.
And... as far as I'm concerned, Flower and GT5P are 'must haves'.

    -----

$299 is a good price. I paid nearly $800 AUD for my 80GB
Money is money, PS3s cost what they cost. C'est la vie.
