I need some help from a few members here at DP who may have some useful information. I'm 24 years old, and I want to figure out how to disconnect from the "control grid." By the time I'm 30 years old, I want to have my own house that runs on solar power, and I want to learn how to dig my own well to find freshwater. Do any of you have any statistical information on the best places in the US to find fresh underground water, large amounts of sunlight? I'm looking to avoid living in major cities, and I only want to use grid electricity as a backup. I also want to avoid places that may have toxic or harmful substances. I live in the state of Nevada, and this is a good place for solar energy. If anyone knows of any good books, let me know. Prudent Places USA is one such book, but 36 bucks is a lot, though I may pay it if I have two. I want to learn how to live outside of the control grid. Only then can I be free.
