I was wondering if anyone can help. Our site Gold Crest Holidays is doing strange things in Google. The site lists perfectly fine in MSN and Yahoo but on google SERPs it looks like this: Now I've never even heard of propxytap and we certainly don't knowingly have anything to do with these people. But google is forwarding people who click on our listing to that site, has anyone had this problem before? Have we been hijacked? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
That is VERY VERY strange, Never saw anything like that before, maybe its your robots.txt? an htaccess redirect for Google's Bots? Or maybe the first version of your site that was indexed, I must say you should contact Google and ask them to provide you with the right result for your site. IT
Some high-PR site linked to your site through that proxy site. Yes, it's extremely strange. And I may be wrong.
How do you search your site in google? When I search for www.gold-crest.com I see the proper picture of your site. The situation you mentioned looks like someone make a mirrow on your site with using 401 redirect. But now I don't see the problem
Dudes, look here in his METAs <meta name="description" content="Coach Holidays. Budget UK and European Coach Holidays. Deals on holidays by coach from 300 UK pickup points. Coach Holidays from Ј79 per person. Holidays to Paris, Euro Disney, UK Flower Shows, Christmas Markets, Disneyland Resort Paris. Great value Coach Holidays!, Sunshine Breaks, Beach holidays, Sightseeing Tours, Christmas Markets tours, cheap weekend breaks, coaching holidays, great value coach holidays.">
When searching for the term "Gold Crest Holidays" we get that result. We've had this site for the last 7 years. We've only noticed this change in the last few days. It's very strange and caught us by suprise, given that we've never even heard of proxytap! Thanks for the suggestions guys, I've sent an e-mail to google to see if I can get an answer from them. If they reply I'll be sure to let you all know what they say.
check your site's META tags, before writing to Google it is done this way click VIEW on top toolbar and then SOURCE on the first few lines of your site you'll find this <meta name="description" content="Coach Holidays. Budget UK and European Coach Holidays. Deals on holidays by coach from 300 UK pickup points. Coach Holidays from Ј79 per person. Holidays to Paris, Euro Disney, UK Flower Shows, Christmas Markets, Disneyland Resort Paris. Great value Coach Holidays!, Sunshine Breaks, Beach holidays, Sightseeing Tours, Christmas Markets tours, cheap weekend breaks, coaching holidays, great value coach holidays."> which means that Google shows what you want to be shown for your site
you asked why Google shows Coach Holidays. Budget UK and European Coach Holidays. Deals on holidays by coach from 300 UK pickup points. Coach Holidays from £79 per person. I said because your site's description is Coach Holidays. Budget UK and European Coach Holidays. Deals on holidays by coach from 300 UK pickup points. Coach Holidays from Ј79 per person. Holidays to Paris, Euro Disney, UK Flower Shows, Christmas Markets, Disneyland Resort Paris. Great value Coach Holidays!, Sunshine Breaks, Beach holidays, Sightseeing Tours, Christmas Markets tours, cheap weekend breaks, coaching holidays, great value coach holidays.
No that's not what I asked . Read my first post again, I'm asking why my site listing in Google is linking to someone elses site - proxytap.
Concerning the link of proxytap, its a new way of spamming, Google cached their site where they had a link to yours, they cache such links for my site as _http://www.bjij.com/a/link.asp?type=88x31&id=2 _http://www.bjij.com/a/link.asp?type=88x31&id=3 _http://www.bjij.com/a/link.asp?type=88x31&id=4 _http://www.bjij.com/a/link.asp?type=88x31&id=6 these all are banners
I got the point, sorry about that I was thinking you asked why is it showing that text, didn't pay attention to the link also MSN does that way, they cache links from one site to others, as if it is someone else's
No problem. I was just a bit confused with your first replies. So my email to google should sort this problem out then? I have to say I've found it all really bizarre. I've never seen anything like this before.
I think you should open up a thread in SE > Google section of DP so that there might be many other people talking about it
It sounds like they highjacked your listing by a 301 redirect. We have seen this happen before with some chinese sites that copied everything. You will want to find out what to do to fix it fast, even if you have to write google and let them know about the hijacked listings.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Gold+Crest+Holidays It could also be DNS poisoning http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS_cache_poisoning
