Proxy Surfing Sites - how do they make money?

I'm trying to figure out what the angle is on proxy surfing sites because I see that they seem to be rather popular.

How, exactly, are people making money with them?

I have a few sites. Made $60 profit this month with one main site. Basicly there great money makers because there automatic. All you need is an amazing server (with hefty overcosts). They are popular as they unblock sites like myspace and bebo and get past filters at work/school etc.
There always getting banned and so people are always looking for new ones.
IMO proxys are peaking now as in templates and sites being sold. Soon they wont be as popular because the market is saturated.

 

But how do you make money with them?

Display ads on the site.

 

Text links. If traffic is good then peaple will pay for text links and banner ads

 

And why do they get banned alot? Is that due to the host?

Well if Adsense ads are displayed in a frame while the user is browsing other sites, I think that's against TOS. So that's why you may be banned from Adsense.

Hosts will ban them too for using way too many server resources.
