Proxy Suggestions

I currently run a 2 popular proxy sites. Combined, they recieve about 500k pageviews / day.
I run them on a dual xeon 3.0 box with 2gb ram, and frequenly my load jumps up to about 25-30, slowing everything down to a crawl. The ram never gets used up, but my processing power goes pretty quickly.
I run cgiproxy for both of them (the market they target needs to be able to fill out forms to login to a site). Does anyone else out there run a proxy site and know of some tips to reduce the load on them? Any advice would be great.

    Use PHProxy.
I get 1,000,000+ requests per day on the Blockmenot network, and load never goes above 10 on a P4 HT 3.0 with 1GB ram, during peak times.

If you must use CGIProxy, turn off "remove scripts" and "remove ads"

I get so much traffic that even using PHProxy just overloads the server.
