I own a 2 month old proxy site making $20/day. What is the market value for a site like that? It is a PR3 and has quite a bit of backlinks. From what I've seen proxy sites sell for only 4-6 months monthly revenue. Is that because of the cost of the dedicated servers?
Is it CGIProxy or PHProxy? The problem with proxies is once they get blocked by school/work admins, they start losing traffic.
It is a modified CGIProxy. But there are proxies that have been running for more than a year. I am paying $84/mo for a server.
You're close at 4-6x, I would have said 3-5x, and as MrX suggests, they have a lower multiple than other types of sites because the risk is higher in terms of issues with reliability of traffic over time. I'd also suggest that the lower price may have something to do with a smaller market for them as well (less potential buyers), you're either into proxies or you aren't, it's not like a MFA site or a directory that you can whack on your server and never really have to worry about again if you don't want to. Proxies can be a bit like a new born child, demanding at often annoying times Having said that as a Proxy owner, the smaller the number of proxy owners, the better for all of us
Also with your proxy ($20/day PR3 + aged) you're going to be pushing it in terms of buyers, you're talking $600 a month revenue which fairly would equal $2500 (roughly) on a sale. There's not a lot of people out there buying proxies at that level. If you do sell though best of luck.
After what I have seen here people are not buying proxies for more than a few hundred $. How many unique visitors do you have a day? Some people say that proxies start to get blocked more and more after 2 months, I do not know if that is true though.
Thanks all. Well contrary to all that, what I've seen on sitepoint's marketplace is that proxies never last, they get snapped immediately for BIN.
Yes, but Sitepoint is not here. I think most of the answers was about the price you will get here at DP. And I don`t think that they normally are getting sold at BIN at Sitepoint either. They may say so but... Anyway, good luck with your sale.
Good question, but as you mentioned for last 2 months your average is $20, I just used the thumb rule to calculate for proxies. It is not easy to earn 500 bucks a month from a proxy site, when there are a lot of proxy sites available in the market.
