Proxy Site - Over 420,000 Uniques Last Month - Up For Sale

I bought a bunch of proxy sites based off a templates a while back. I didn't change anything with them, just let them sit there while I worked on other projects. The idea was that it would make use of a domain I wasn't really using but might come in handy later. Well, one of those sites has started taking off, getting 11,000+ uniques a month then jumping to 400,000+ uniques a month. This month, August, it has already posted over 130,000+ unique visitors and its only the 10th day of the month!

All of this on a basic template. I don't even have the login info to the top sites, as they were probably given to me at one time but I never used them...I just let the site site there.

So here is the deal, I want to sell the site/domain. I don't have any use for them other than possibly redirecting the traffic. I can give you the proxy site with it, but its a pretty basic template that I made NO changes too.

I am open to selling this but if I think I can make more by redirecting the traffic, I may not sell it.

if the site is slow to load its because of the server its on. I have been having some issues with that box and will continue to work on it. I am adding more ram to it as well, which hopefully should help the load. Anyway...if it doesn't load, let me know and I will address the problem.

The domain/site was sitting there doing nothing when I discovered that it was now getting a very large amount of uniques a day/month. I haven't done anything to take advantage of that. I put exoclick.com ads on it just the other day before deciding that I would just sell it since I don't have time to put into trying to make the most out of the traffic.

bro how did u calculate uniques ? in alexa its showing your site rank 1,69732,476 and most of visitors from china ? u got google anlaytics proof ?

 

I don't know what to tell you...I posted the statistics that I have and they show the number of uniques. I posted the referrals from the stats as well.

If this is not enough information to get your interest, I apologize. I am not trying to hide anything, just trying to sell a domain/site that I paid zero attention to and has really started attracting large amounts of visitors. I make no claim to where the visitors come from, they may very well come from china. I just know what the stats that I posted show.

To the thread starters defence. Alexa rank means nothing, especially for proxy sites. Majority, if not, all users of webbased proxy sites are children/students so they can circumvent possible restrictions regarding to accessibility of sites. Alexa rank is based for about 90% on data from browsers which have the Alexa toolbar installed. I can guarantee you, very little children/students have an Alexa toolbar installed, add the fact proxies are used at schools (thus you work with preinstalled software) I can safely say: alexa means nothing.

 

I assure you it is not fake at all, but thank you for your interest. My itrader standing and involvement in this forum should be enough to support the fact that I would never knowingly try and fake any sale.

It really is sad how people come on here and trash a perfectly legit sale. The site is getting an insane amount of traffic and I am willing to part with it. If you are interested, please post or PM me an offer. If you are not, please, keep the discussion on the up and up.

If no one is interested, I will just keep it make use of the 400,000+ unique visitors.

What made the traffic going from 500/day up to 14,000/day?

 

I really don't know. As I posted in the thread above, this was a domain that I was doing nothing with. I was going through my sites/domains that were on this server of mine since I was thinking of moving them all to a different server and came across this one with all this traffic.

Put Google analytics on it for 24 hours to verify the source of the traffic. It seems fake to me. Although Alexa can be faked, it is not faked "higher" but "lower". I have a site visited by mostly old grandma's and they wouldn't know an Alexa toolbar from their elbow but my site still ranks high in Alexa. Those who say it means "nothing" are incorrect. I find it a good measuring stick.

What spec of server is this running off? From past experience if you were getting 420,000 uniques from genuine users actively using your proxy this would take tremendous server resources. I once had a proxy doing about a third of this per month and it took up an entire servers resources.

Also - again from past experience and looking at your referral stats I would guess that most of this traffic is coming from other proxy sites which are leeching your proxies index.php. Therefore you miss out on any revenue from visitors visiting your homepage and rely on any revenue generated from the proxified pages (this rules out Google AdSense).

The above should not be construed negatively, just my thoughts. Additionally I believe that this guy is an honest seller, he perhaps genuinely doesn't understand himself where this traffic is coming from and the implications thereof.

 

very good points. I am unsure of where the traffic is coming from other than the referral stats and unique stats that I posted.

The server load is pretty big, the server it is on is running slow for sure.

Anyway...again, good points. I am still selling the domain/site...thanks for your info an input. Just as posted in the beginning post of this thread, the buyer is buying it as is.
