Proxy Site Advertisers - Global Interactive and Others

Discussion in 'Affiliate Programs' started by WPPJames, Aug 25, 2006.

I just signed up with Global Interactive to display ads on my top of page "mini-URL" form on my www.surfatwill.com proxy site. It beats what I had before (nothing), but $0.10 CPM seems awfully low.

Any of you guys get a better rate elsewhere? I have submitted to other CPM brokers, but was always rejected based on being a proxy site.

Suggestions and/or recommendations would be most appreciated.

I'd be very careful with Global Interactive ads, especially considering you have AdSense on the same page. Currently I'm seeing a half naked anime girl in a banner ad for a dating service, something which Google will look down upon.

I think if you're only getting $0.10 CPM, the risk of being banned from AdSense wouldn't be worth it.

    Thanks Ponynugget.

You make a valid point. I had just added the GI ads to the main/index page, so I'm going to remove that now. That page gets only a small portion of the overall impressions, so it would not be worth the risk of getting banned by Google.

But any suggestions for the top of page "mini-URL" (better name for that?) space would be most welcomed. This space does not contain any Adsense ads (which are prohibited there) and would be open for advertising space recommendations.

I'm not sure about Adversal's policies but have you tried them before? Their CPM can be up to $6.

adversal is the best option to use for proxy browse pages if you are unable to sell inventory directly with mmm.

I took a look at Adversal, but they appear to only serve pop-unders, which I'm not interested in.

good luck monetizing your proxy then. based on my experience with proxies (and im very experienced) a combination of adversal and adsense is the best form of monetization.

Perhaps, but you have Adversal in your sig, so I'm not sure what your connection to them is. There are an unlimited number of proxy sites out there. If you make your ads overly intrusive (like with a bunch of pops), then your users will just find another proxy to use.

Plus, the CPM for pops would have to be much, much higher to equal out revenue wise with CPM banners. Your pops will only get shown every so often (hourly, daily, etc.), while you get credited for the banner ad on every page view.

$6 cpm, they pay for every page load, not by unique.

you will find that every proxy is monetized in the same manner. you do not lose users with proxies as long as you promote it the right way. i used to run a massive network of them, (over 30) so you can take my advice in any way you'd like. this is digitalpoint, people help each other here.

This has nothing to do with uniques, as I suspect you already know.

If a single users browses 100 pages within an hour's time, then a banner CPM on the proxy's header gets credit for 100 impressions. A pop gets credit for only how many times it gets triggered during that time. Probably only once. So the CPM for the pop would have to be 100x the banner's to equate revenue wise.

Every proxy is most certainly *NOT* monetized in the same manner. Many have absolutely no ads at all of any kind within the proxy pages and depend strictly on the Adsense ads on the index page. You have to strike a balance between monetizing your proxy site and preventing your users from going elsewhere.

They say $1.20 CPM for USA popunders and $0.50 for non US. I don't know where you got the $6 from. http://adversal.com/rates.jsp

it's $1.20 cpm but they take an average of 5 hits per user to get $6. other companies do 1 popup per 24 hours per unique.

this is different with adversal. as i've said before, they go by impressions and not what you think.

let me rephrase the second part. successful startup proxies are monetized with adversal and adsense. I am seeing an 80% return rate for users of my proxies so if you are experiencing a low rate of returning visitors then it shows that they are being turned off by something. my proxies are well designed and ads are well optimized. my users are almost all browsing porn and i doubt that they are even remotely bothered by the popunders.

What do you mean an average of 5 hits per user? Does adversal sometimes deliver more than 5 hits per user in each session?

If they do, they are bombarding users with pops to the extent that they will go somewhere else.

why the hell would adsense terminate your account? because you're displaying popups? if you think that, then you are very misinformed.

ask anyone who has had major success with proxies and they will tell you that the only formula for successfully monetizing one is adsense on the index page and adversal on the browse pages.

Have you read the google adsense TOS?

Now can you show me anything on the adversal web page where it mentions a limit of ANY numerical limit that they self impose on their popups? Have you ever tested adversal yourself?
