Proxy server for information security

I would like a network of servers to host a website but in order to cut down on security holes and information leakage, I would rather not make all of their ip addresses accessible.

Could I configure Apache such that as far as the internet is concerned, all the content is served from one ip address? Would I face any performance issues in terms of CPU load and/or bandwidth? How severe?

Proxy servers run CPU intensive scripts and the only way to cope with them is buying your own Dedicated Server with plenty of bandwidth.

VPS's and Dedicated Servers include 1 or 2 Dedicated IPs and you can buy as many as needed, usually up to 10, as you can also edit your server configuration files at your convenience.
