PROXY question

I see these proxy sites listed all over the forrum here in the sale section, links etc. and have tried a few and think i know the basics, but anybody care to really explain them. Does it really allow you to surf with out being tracked, does it hide your real IP etc? To be honest I am pretty green with this topic.

    thanks

    :)

Yes they hide your real IP.
They are mostly used when work/schools block other sites. So using a proxy is a way to have access to the blocked site.

It just basically grabs the content of the site and caches it, then it "forwards" the content to you therefore hiding your IP address and providing a work-around to school and work internet filters. That is also why proxies use so much bandwidth and are usually pretty slow.

the main reason i am wondering is because i bought an adsence account or code etc here and they also gave me a warning to use different IPS or i may lose my account, i have a well established one and do not want to chance loosing the data from that one, thus the question

"before login the account, pls delete your cookie and change your ip if you've logined other acc. remember, one acc could be login by different ip, but the same ip couldn't login several acc. it is very important, be careful, or you will lose your acc."

Lol. yeah if you have multiple adsense accts. that is against TOS so you will need to use a different IP, I wouldn't use one of those web-based proxies though. Use an actual proxy server, you can find one here: http://www.samair.ru/proxy it is a good list that is frequently updated and all you have to do is go into firefox and update the proxy settings.

Make sure to use a "High Anonymous Proxy/Server" because just a regular "Anonymous" server will still show that you are using a proxy and won't completely hide you.

That same site above has a "proxy checker" to find a good proxy.

However, if you're looking for some really good proxies check out my sig below, both those proxies are really fast and really good!

    Hmm,

Not sure if any proxy will be good enough to block google, but it works, report it here. I'm sure it'll be helpful to a lot of people.

You can also get a proxy add-on for mozilla.

t200q: yes, it does hide your ip address. helpful if your government prevents your computer from accessing sites that they have banned. i would personally recommend 'tor' otherwise known as 'the onion router' along with its firefox extension called the 'torbutton'. it saves me time from manually selecting proxy servers. you can also change your identity whenever you like it.

man, it's great to back here at DP. :)

Yes, I would suggest Tor also, it is great for privacy, not sure how well it works against Google...
