    Hello guys,
    Just had a quick question.
What is the proxy script using the least amount of bandwith, and how much does it use. I have 2500GB of bndwith/month minus about 500 for my other sites, how many proxies do you thinnk i can get with 2000GB per month?
    Thanks
    Mike

I would say around 50gb is good per proxy. That's around 40 proxies, although I don't know if you want to host them on a shared hosting account. A dedicated host would be better (unless this is dedicated, then forget what i said)

CGI Proxy uses the least amount of bandwidth, however it is kinda slow then PHProxy. PHProxy uses a lot, however you can configure it to limit the max amount of KB's that can be downloaded. (A lot of people prefer/tend to use PHProxy)

If left un-tweaked (sp?) and you're using PHProxy, you could easily rack up 1-3+gb bandiwdth a day with 1000+ uniques (at least, I'm experiencing this anyway). You'll have plenty of bandwidth to host mulitple proxy websites but the thing is, will your server hold them all up?

    Hope that helps,
    Andrew.

Why don't you use my bandwidth free proxy service? And pay nothing?

I don't believe that CGI proxy uses the least amount of bandwidth, I think u'll find that some of the PHP based proxies use much less, e.g. PHProxy, I have tested bandwidth resources on my server several times.

I prefer u to use php proxy, since it uses less system resources.
With 2000 gb bandwidth u can run atleast 50 to 60 proxies.
But with the knowledge of system resources only we can say how many of them will be suited for u !

Bcoz : bandwidth is not only the key of proxy sites !

It's not all about bandwith. You need some CPU power too. Keep that in mind. CGI proxy uses a lot CPU resources but same can happen with a popular php proxy.

Zelune proxy is just a modified version of PHProxy, it uses cookies to log visitors and has a better looking proxified menu ;)

Zelune is a Proxy Script, much like PHProxy and CGI-Proxy, it uses cURL and seems to be faster than PHProxy and CGI-Proxy

Host quiet a few CGI proxies with that bandwidth, but you WILL need alot of cpu power.

As others have said PHProxy will use alot of bandwidth. You can stop hotlinking and set download limits, but it still uses alot.

    Get more information at http://focused.org/proxies/

lol...that just means that you got really bad traffic, who surf the whole internet using your proxy. Plus he has 2000gb, it's fine. And for many people, vps is just not something they can afford, especially with someting like a proxy. Some people do it for fun, or to see if they can even generate income with proxies. sure when you get more visiotors a DS is pretty much required, but when starting out, shared hosting is just fine.

Lol. Well, it just means you have people who are from china or other blocked countries and use your service to get online when their country blocks a lot of stuff. You mainly want traffic from North America, maybe UK (not sure about this one) but you don't want traffic from Iran, India, China, Japan, Korea, or any of those 3rd world countries. There are scripts available on here, like on DP (you have to look for it, called GIOP i think) or something like that, anyway, they let you block countries from visiting your proxy. It's expensive, so it's like an investment, but once you get pure US traffic, I believe you get better values with adsense and stuff. This is just my opinion though, so I might be wrong.

    Thank you for your tip.
Honestly, this is the very first time I run a website.. I decided to do proxy because i need to use them sometimes (stuff blocked at office); but yes.. I checked on google analytics and i'm getting a lot of traffic from china and other asian countries...
I believed it was ok because i think my ctr is not bad (I made up to 4 bucks with adsense...)

probably i leave my site as it is because i got a deal for unmetered bandwidth with my vps provider... and because i'm running everything directly thru SSH i don't pay that much.

what do you think?? should i keep it that way and start marketing stuff for china ?? (probably will be hard to market china...)

I'm open for comments and sugestions. :D

I am not sure what you mean by "start marketing stuff for china"

What VPS provider do you use? That sounds interesting.

I hardly make anythign with adsense. :( Sometimes it's like $1.08, other times it's 0 :(. I don't get it lol. I should go and advertise it more, although it seems when I advertise I spend MORE money than i make. Go figure.

Honestly I don't understand how adsense works. (besides i put in on the page, someone clicks on it interested and they pay me something... also the TOS that i made sure i READ)
once day i got like 5 clicks and did 3 bucks... other day i got 88 cents by 2 clicks.... so i have no idea what is going on there.

I'm using tectonik services for vps.
The unmetered plan I have runs on a 1Mb card (equivalent to 320GB)

If i need more bandwidth i can change to 2Mb card... up to 4Mb card.

When I said start marketing stuff for china; I mean stuff like jobs and others...
There should be an affiliate program or something related to asia... payrate may/will sucks... but after all profit is profit

    :D
