Just a question to those proxy service owners out there, have you had servers shutdown due to the proxy running on your system? Regards, SSANZ
I used to run several proxies: and yes, I personally have experienced a proxy being shut down for running it on a server. The problem is that proxies are resource hogs. If you are running on anything but a dedicated server (such as a shared . . . and sometimes even a VPS) you are taking more resources than would typically be alloted to any one user. In short, if you want to run a proxy, get a dedicated server.
I run my own servers.... Im asking if people have had there servers disconnected. Shared hosting is horrible for proxys.
No I have not had any of my servers shut down for running proxys. You must make sure that the data center allows proxys on the dedicated servers. Some data centers do not allow proxys on the servers.. So read the TOS and AUP and ask before you buy.. I can give you a few good data centers for running proxys if yo need it.
We've had a few customers we manage servers for receive complaints from their providers. Some spammer goes onto their proxy then sends spam through some form and the proxy IP shows up on a blacklist. Also any illegal activity done by the proxy users could come back in the form of complaints from upstream providers as well.
