never ran a proxy script, nor do i want to.this is a question about advertising on a proxied page.i want to see if it is worth doing it for me.

what percentage of visits would you say are from a direct link to a proxied page?
i don't know much about proxys, but i would assume some links are given.
on those links would you say they get a few hits or are they posted somewhere and get a bunch of hits?

Don't run adsense on proxied pages cause you never know where the user gonna go, put it on your front page. Your adsense ads can end up showing up on porn proxied pages.

You can run other ads like adbrite on proxied pages but not adsense.Although you can even place your site banners :)

I wouldn't advise advertising on a proxy if you are trying to sell something, proxy users are extremely unlikely to buy something.

They also don't click very much on proxied page adverts, they do a little, just depends on what the advert is for.

Not to mention it's against Google's TOS to do that in the first place.

    Yeah, it's against Google's TOS too :)

It seems MySpace bulletin is a good way to go to promote proxy site. Never try it though. Anyone can share their experience on promoting proxy site through MySpace?

Zodiac : You can get ad space on proxied pages, on any proxy, but I guess you will have to contact the proxy owner to do this, as every proxy owner is monetizing their proxied pages with a third party network.

If you want a piece of advice, advertise there only something cool for myspace users, as those are the people who are using proxies in the first place.

I think one of the problems with advertising on proxies might be that you don't know which sites the proxy user is visiting. Some of the users might be visiting a porn site, some might be visiting myspace, some might be looking and a news site and others might be reading or posting in forums. It would be the most untargetted ad you could imagine.

Banner ads (NOT ADSENSE) would be your best bet here, and make sure those ads are very attractive
