Provoke viral marketing

    Hi there,

    I'm looking for examples of techniques that provoke viral marketing. Stunts, buzz generators, whatever you call them, I want to hear the stories.

    Amazing how some things can generate a massive word-of-mouth wave. Help me get my creative spirit going, let's brainstorm and share stories!

    Think of something wierd. A good example is the will it blend series that has spread extrmely fast

    3 technichs that work :
    Close registration for free something :
    - Give something great (better than everyone on the market).
    - You should get an invite to have it.
    - Example of Success : Gmail : 2 Go email (the market medium was 10Mo).

    Host content for Free :
    - Don't do the viral content --> Host it :)
    - Example of Success : Youtube, Rapidshare,....

    Create a social network :
    - You user need to invite someone to benefit from your site
    - Example of Success : Linkedin.

    There is also "messaging system".

    For example, to use ICQ or Skype, you need to promote it to your friends, family,...
