    Hi,
Is it a good idea to provide a free service to sites such as free forum or anything and obliging the user to put a link to your site on his page (such as provided by xxxx)?
Would this increase the page ranking in google?
Does this result in a ban in search engines?
Would this help in marketing your site?
    Any ideas would useful...
    Thanks

If you can automate the free service, it can be worth. Otherwise it takes more time managing stuff that do link building.

    Just my thought. :)

Look how these forums grew to 10K members. Most of them got here via Shawn's free sevrices, all the tools.

Providing free services and applications can be a very lucrative tactic to gain links. I'm working on one that will yield some nice incoming links. It's about thinking outside the box to achieving links. Offering "freebies" is just one of many ways to get those "natural, one-way links". :)
