Hello guys, Got couple of questions about Directories and dir link submissions [1] When someone submits a link to a directory, will it be there for good as long as the directory stays alive or will the directory removes that link after couple of months..?? Coz i have 1st hand experience that most of the Dir remove the links after sometime even after they've been given a return link..? [2] Is Dir submission really a useful tactic to build back links..? if so then how can it be..? when in reality the web site links moves into the deep pages of a directory as new links flows in, in other words a particular link won't be having a permanent position in a directory so when things are like that how can it help to build strong back links through dir submission..? I always thought using a dir submission as a way of link building is totally a waste of time, is there anyone who can prove that im wrong..? pls go ahead and give your best shot
First of all if the details are filled properly in the most suitable category then definitely it will get approval as per the time stated for approval in that directory and the link stays there no doubt..but some directories after sometime removes the link...only few..not all Back linking is a different thing provided you are not submitting reciprocal link..back linking and link building.....directory link helps your site to get indexed in google and also effect your site PR.. Directory submission is not a wastage of time other wise the Services section would have thrown out from DP Umesh281
[1] That's why it's good to submit to serious directories which you'll find in this forum. [2] Depends on the category structure. Buy a featured link to guarantee a link on the top page and more exposure.
1. depends on the submission guildlines and owner of said directory 2. Directory submission useful? Yes it the best way to reach the top of the search results... do this by adding your link in good quality directories.. thx malcolm
Most of the Directories are way too serious actually with too many rulezz and everything. you cant even submit a deep link to most of these directories unless u pay them So how much u have to pay in order to get at least 100 featured back links from these directories, lets say the avg dir charges around $25 per link, so it would be $2500 for 100 featured dir listings having 100 back links is pointless as we all know even though it'll cost a fortune to get those 100 And the duration of a featured link is vary from 1 month to 1 year, in most occasions its just 1 month so you have to repeat the $2500 each n every month to keep your 100 back links even though there's no real value nor ROI Mmmmmmmmm need more feeed back both positve and neagtive to support the directory submision cause
Ok first i wish i could charge someone for a MONTHLY featured link id already be retired.... It your choice whether your site is ever found or reaches top 10 results... we are just a manner of getting you thier... You do have other options to reach top 10.... But its called PPC or google adwords Heres a Freebie for ya ... Biz-Monster Web Directory thx malcolm
All things equal between 2 sites, the site with directory submissions will win. It might not be a major thing but everything helps.
1) Depends on the submission guidelines and owner of said directory. I don't think any serious directory would be deleting a link. (Unless it is a featured listing with yearly terms) 2) Yes it is one of the best ways to reach to the top and have more backlinks. It depends where are you submitting your link. (a) If you are submitting to some quality paid directories, your listing is certainly going to improve with time as the directory would get a Higher PR. (b) If you are submitting to free directories; well, even if you are getting 1000 PR0 links, it is not going to hurt you. After all, it is a free backlink. Show me some directories that have Featured links for $25/month. I will like to have a listing there.
here's couple of dir for you $20.00/mo - http://bluemushrooms.com/sites/submit.php?c=107 $30.00/mo - http://www.chillycool.com/dig/submit.php And ok lets say itz for one year, but still it would be over $40 and the most happening Dir like Aviva charges around $70 per year, So the point is hvn just 1 or 2 or even 10 featured listing won't take you any where in terms of SEO, and most of these Dir dnt hv any PR in the inner pages which means google does not spider them. So when its like that how you gona benefit..? But sure thing you will get some visitors from the directories
ok So lets say im gona submit my links to those quality Dir But we have to be practical abt the fact that 10-100 back links from these dir won't give TOP 10 ranking on google rite..? it wont be that easy for sure So these quality dir charge avg of $60 per year and for 100 of them would be $6000 per year now how many of us gona spend that much money to get 100 back links..? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Another concern i have abt directories is that, how do we know that the Dir place our links on a clean HTML pages..? coz some people use Dynamic link scripts where the original link is placed on some junk web page where there is no PR nor SE activity at all, and by using the dynamic script it shows everyone that its on a PR 6 page Wot do u guys have to say for that..?
Research the directory(s) you plan to submit to. Then YOU decide to submit or not. No one can talk you in to it.
It's pretty simple, sure their are directories that aren't worth submitting to and there are many more that are, every gripe you have stated can be easily checked by you before spending your money on submissions. Choose the ones that have the most to offer or don't, it's totally up to you. Promote your sites however you want but coming into a forum that is mainly frequented by directory owners trying to rip the industry based on observations of a few directories isn't going to accomplish much especially when you counter arguments with statements like this: Not sure where you are getting your information but you might want to do a bit more research...
Depends what the directory is offering, permanent is usually life of the directory. I think you are tarring everyone with the same brush with your statement most directories remove links, it should say most directories you have submitted too. A little directory background checking before submission will help in that area. All links from anywhere have the potential and ability to be useful, whether for 'linkjuice' or traffic. Serious directory owners build backlinks to deep pages within the directory structure, again doing some homework on any directory your thinking of submitting to can give you answers to the bigger picture. You can also buy a featured listing to help your PR building campaign. Depends how serious you are with your site(s), not everything is for 'free', Do you sell any products/services on your site?, how about giving them away for 'free' if you do.
1 . Well there are people and people 2 . Yes it's one of the greatest strategies to get links and rankings (i'm talking from experience)
ahhhh ya know what your right It can get very expensive so i ive reduced the prices for you so that you can easily afford to buy a link.... Knock yourself out! http://www.omega-directory.com/submit.php thx malcolm
To the thread starter: Directory submission is worth it & really helps with SEO. I have taking many number 1 spots on Google.com for some great keywords using just directory submissions. Whilst some may remove you link many won't.
Guys, come on, there are so many directories out there that it's got to depend on which ones you're looking at. Free ones are not bad considering that they are free and if links stay in place it's a bonus. Cheap ones are not bad either, nor are the popular expensive ones. But Pay for submissions only to reputable directories. I agree that some are very 'naughty' and although I have benefited a lot from directory submissions (including my cheap seo directory if you're interested), some have sent me an email announcingthat they are going to remove my link if I don't pay to stay. That's not nice, I am never going to pay just because of that. I don't like it, first you make me sign up then you kick me out if I don't pay? I am not doing business with these people...
