It's copyright infringement. Definitely not allowed, not only by Google, but any corporate company.

It is not copyright issue...it is a trademark issue.

Your friend cannot use the word "Adsense" if he is in the same industry.

However. he may be able to use the word if he is making a site on a subject entirely different from online advertising.

Google doesn't accept sites in the Adsense program, if they have "Adsense" work in their domain name.

You can use the AdSense word as far as you're not a Google's competitor.
However if you want to place AdSense ads you may run in trouble.

I had written here before about one of my domains which is a classic example of having two copyright issues - AdsenseForDummies.com.
"Adsense" is one of Google's trademarks and "for dummies" is Wiley's (Publisher) trademark.
Responding to my email, Google replied NO!!!
Not displying any Adsense ads, despite no SEO stuffs being implemented (SEOgeek.com is mine) AdsenseForDummies.com is currently being visited by hundreds of dummies looking for Adsense tips, secrets, gossips, etc.

    Can you beat that.
