Being this is a webmaster forum, I feel that a lot of people here have used Scroogle. Basically, it is Google, but it strips out all ads and prevents Google from placing cookies or tracking which searches were made by you. Now, because of a change by Google, Scroogle is no longer functional, as it can no longer parse results due to the removal of a simple search page. By Google doing this, they are preventing people from choosing a more private option, and personally, I use Scroogle to get objective SERP results for my web pages. I think those of us who use this tool should protest what Google has done and get them to reverse their decision. I've tried to find how to contact Google, but there is no email address and no live customer support. This is getting pretty irritating.
You can contact them here. However, the postal mail seems to be the only way to contact them. I have used Scroogle personally sometime and really liked it. However, I do not think this protest will work in most aspect I can think of. I am not protecting Google as I would got nothing by doing it, just talking about facts in reasonable manner. I do not think Google would listen to our protest nor anyone protest neither regarding to this matter. Scroogle does use other one resources, Google, and I do not think Google has any obligation to let other ones use their resources in one way or another. They have the right as a company to change or make modification toward their own assets - Google search engine. Another point to consider is, Google does not collect any fees for any usage on their search engine from regular users, including free APIs for developers as well. I can expect some response from Google like I mentioned above if they want to counter back the protest. What do yo think?
It is true that Google can do whatever they want with their own assets, but they get enough searches through their engine, and they should keep this available for both people who want more privacy and those who want to objectively do searches, either for SEO reasons or otherwise. If they don't fix it, I guess I'll just have to get a SERP checker.
