I moved a site to a new host... but the "password protected directories" are still in effect. I can't change it on the new host... how can I disable this?

It's likely in the htaccess file? If that's where your password protection is, you can remove a few lines from there and turn it off...

Remove any line that begins Auth*....
Remove any line that begins Require.....

not htaccess... I set it up in cpanel. I didn't even movie any files in the public_html directory - just moved the database. It was vbulletin.

I tried removing the access block and then downloading the database then uploading it to the new host, but the restricted area thing still appears.

    Suggestions?
