I have a few ideas I feel as well as a friend are very good. Problem is I need to find someone to code it. Last time another one of my idea's was stolen by a coder who offered to help and implemented into a site which has been shutdown for a violation unrelated to stealing the concept. What do I need to copyright an idea? Or must I need more than just the concept drawn out to attain one? thanks.
Yeah, you have to get these international certificates. I can't remember what they are called exactly, but many scientists have come up with good ideas etc... which they needed many international certificates for. I think it can take years and years to get ideas fully protected
Jack, I think you mean a patent. Yes, to protect an idea you need a patent. Ideas can't be copyrighted. Only the physical expression can be copyrighted. I'd suggest an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), but coders and web designers are really touchy about signing them. My only good suggestion is to ask around and find a really reputable person to work with. The reputable ones won't steal your idea. You may have to pay a little more for someone who's really good, but it's WAY cheaper than filing for a patent. Just my $.02... Patents can certainly run into tens of thousands of dollars... I've even heard of some running into the hundreds of thousands... Deena
