I am looking for your thoughts/strategies on mixing the two (not the mechanics). I have found that it is pretty easy to put Amazon products (pages and pages) in the content section of each BANS page. So for example on the BANS page of GREAT WIDGETS in the content section I inserted GREAT WIDGETS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ON AMAZON. Here is what I see as the Pros: 1) more products and greater mix creates more appeal and trust with the visitor; 2) Amazon pay higher % on sale; 3) Amazon links might help avoid the traditional BANS footprint. Cons: 1) Amazon has no extended cookie, it is now or never; 2) no ACRU (do you think Amazon links will cause loss of ACRUs?); 3) possible confusion of trying to buy products from Amazon and ebay. Anybody have any additional thoughts or want to weigh in?
I've mixed the two on a few sites for experimentation. I've had nothing but bad luck with Amazon. The 1 day cookie is brutal. I'll most likely be removing all my Amazon links (tried all sorts.. aStore, widgets, text links, etc) on my eBay store fronts since they are being clicked, and I may be missing out on potential eBay sales in the process. I almost prefer AdSense on my site vs. Amazon, but this could be niche related. I know of a lot of people that do really well with Amazon.. so who knows what my problem is. hanji
I am not a big fan of Amazon, but some people make a lot of money. I'd rather focus on the cool niches you can find at CJ and the ebay program.
Amazon sure has its advantage: buyers tend to make multiple purchase, wide array of products to promote, plus it is a strong brand that people feel safe to shop at .
