In your opinions what are the pros and cons of having one big site in a niche or several smaller ones. I have one big site and a few smaller ones but am toying with the idea of merging the smaller ones with the big one. Has anyone had any success in 301 redirecting established smaller sites to a new page on a bigger site? Would you reccomend it?
Tricky to know... I tend to think that it's best to avoid messing around with moving links. I know 301 redirects aren't supposed to hurt your ranking, but I think they do, even if just temporarily. I'd probably stick with smaller sites personally. Hmm tricky, I'd be interested to know anyone elses opinion really.
Ok you've probably already have heard... Don't put all your eggs in one basket... It's easier to work on one site... If one niche goes down the drain, you got others... 5 sites are harder and takes more time to work on...
Yea, I skimmed over that part... Same niche, personally I'd have multiple sites. First keeping up with 5 sites of the same niche will get easier because you master the niche and you know more about it therefore it'll be easier to concentrate on the content and the overall sites.
