It's been nice watching this discussion. Lots of people that seem to know their stuff and a lot that don't As far as I am concerned, I believe that the difference between communism and capitalism is that communism speaks of "we" and capitalism speaks of "I". In order to make capitalism work you have got to have patience and think of the community rather then yourself. I actually like that thought, what's sad is that it has never worked and probably never will. People are greedy and hasty, they always need more and preferably right now. Hey, that's what made fast-food so successful... The irony is that the failure of communism seems to be caused by some capitalists among them. Remember that I am talking about the communist ideals and not the communist countries cause those are more dictatorships...
Isn't that pretty much the exact opposite of what Adam Smith documented in The Wealth of Nations? Don't you remember the invisible hand?
What is it that you are objecting to? Do you think it is morally wrong or do you think that it is not possible to make money in China?
You're saying there is more possibility to make money in China than there is in the U.S. That, my friend, is a false statement. There is a market in China, but they are far behind us. Why are you always bashing the U.S. anyways? Where did you hang out when you were here? Compton? We do have problems that need to be fixed. But overall you need to weigh the good against the bad. I do think that there is a moral issue in doing business with China, anything supporting a government that doesn't honor human rights, is not something to be proud of. We are still the economic driving force in the world, not saying we are the richest country, but we do spend a lot more money than any other nation (yes, a lot of money is being wasted as well). I don't get you, Julian. It's almost like you want to discredit the U.S. at all times. No society is perfect, sometimes you just need to accept some of the bad as part of the good. I suggest taking a trip to China or somewhere where you either do what your government wants, or get punished for exercising your own will.
Minus the government restrictions, I think there's about 1 billion more possibilities Far behind us on how much debt they can get themselves into? I don't think the US is honoring human rights in Abu Ghraib or in Iraq, so are you proud?
I'm not proud of the war or anything related to our fight against terror. I consider it a necessary evil we are going thru. We are in debt, but we also have a good standard of living. The people of China have jack shit.
I have done business with china/Taiwan since 1987. I have been to both Taiwan and main land China. It is new market with so much possibility that it is not even comparable with USA, the same way that Russia was in the beginning of 90's. Look at the label of the designer clothes in USA, where is it produced? China. How many day /week Chinese work? 6 day and for much longer hours and for almost nothing. You can have many moral arguments that people should not be taken advantage of or their political system is wrong but when it comes to money, you have no idea what you are talking about. In regard to where I lived in USA, I still keep a house in Palas Verdes (haven't been there for almost a year), what I like about my neighbors is that they usually know what they are talking about. Have you ever been to China or done business with them?
I bet you hung out with the elite of China then, the ones on top and not the oppressed ones. So your view may have been quite subjective. And quit quoting Rob
Did I say I didn't. We were talking about making money. I visited a factory and every 24 workers were living in one room with 3 level bunker beds and no privacy but this meant that the factory could produce the product very cheaply which can be sold to you in a store in USA with 500% profit. The elite in China are also very corrupt and they rob you blind if you are not careful.
Liberal university, UWP, PolySci courses... History minor. Concentration in Marxist Theory, Historical Materialism, and Scientific Socialism. I mentioned a book you could read. Anyway, spent a lot of time studying both Engles and Marx. Fascinating stuff. It was a well rounded perspective learning about a philosophy that emphasize materialism over religion or idealism. Especially after having to grow up Catholic. Sorry man, you are way out of your league here. Have a miserable night. If anyone made it up, it must have been the liberal professors in the University of Wisconsin Systemm
Well 2 billion good Muslims cannot seem to convince a few bad apples, "wanna be posers, claiming to be Muslim's" to stop terrorising the world.
And if Ghippie would actually learn to read... There is nothing more truthful that the above quote...
What's in a name.. "yo-yo" Think about it. yo-yo P Pronunciation Key (yy) n. pl. yo-·yos 1. A toy consisting of a flattened spool wound with string that is spun down from and reeled up to the hand by motions of the wrist. 2. Informal. One that undergoes frequent abrupt shifts or reversals, as of opinion or emotion; a vacillator. 3. Slang. A stupid or objectionable person. I'm going with number two, with just a hint of number 3.
Terrorising the world? I'm not terrorised, the people around me don't look terrorised, in fact - the only people who seem to be scared of terrorism here are the republicans so obsessed with loving bush they actually believe him every time he says the "T" word (i think it's about 9,865 times in the last 3 years now)
I wonder why that is, could it be that it is because the ones that you always criticise, are actually doing their job to protect you.
That is what I like about USA, if you are a failure as a second class actor, you can always spy on your fellow actors and become a USA president. Just the fact that he puts both Marx and Lenin together shows that either he hasn't read their books or didn't understand it.
