+ You don't have to worry about money
    + Same standard for everyone
+ high growth rate in your country(stalins regime 1948-1955 had 20%+ growth)
+ Lots of occupations such as SEO worker, taxpeople, bank-mans wont be needed
    + Unemployment = 0%

    - Perhaps too much focus on the group and to little on the individual
    - You can't raise your standard without beeing corrupted and active in politics

    What do you think?

+ Can work extremely well in certain situations (Cuba)

    - No such thing, even Stalin used Capitalist methods and unequal payment schemes
    - Communism hasn't worked yet with a 100% communist state
    - Has killed 100 million people in the last 100 years or something?

Its working in Cuba? That's my model of prosperity in the western hemisphere :p

Take a quick trip to East Germany. Remember when E and W combined into a single country again. E Germany was stuck in the 50's. Nothing had been improved in close to 40 years or something.

    Yeah. Same standard. Miserable. Nice.

Or eating. Since there would be rationing, and everyone would be starving identically to you.

I have a friend took a raft from cuba to florida, just because the conditions in Cuba were "great".

He said it is controling to the point of being told how much toilet paper your family could use.

I agree with Henny and wonder what backwoods homeschool these insightful thoughts are coming from.

None at all, I actually went to a small private school until I was in 7th grade.

I just had a funny vision of a toothless grandma teaching laterhorn about the great benefits of communism. :D

I suppose this ranks up there with his question of which forum member have killed someone.

West Germany have more stylish buildings than the grey commie blocks in East berlin but that is just because commies didn't care about the design since it didn't have any scintific advance. That's what I like.

+ No artistic bullshit, just a plain scientific society

Because I take up the issue? No I'm not russian but I have russian relatives.

Why? Is this a tabu in America

Anyway 5%-10% of all people in my country consider themselves to be commies.

I am not too keen on all the arts schools, etc... but art is not a bad thing, without art and artistic flair we would have a grey, drab society- talk about more suicides!

The fact too many want to do something and pass it off as a form of art so the NEA will hand over the money, is what ticks me off.

Oh, OK, I thought you were going to be someone who thinks that homeschoolers are the uneducated ones or something. I went to public school most of my life, but we homeschool our kids.

All russians I've met tell me that Soviet was fine before the perestrojka that was caused by the westernlover Gorbatjov. The russian economy shrinked to a third of it's original size when capitalism was introduced.

Not saying that I'm a commie, because I'm not. But so many americans speak of communism like priests speak about satan.

    Cause American's like their freedom!

Think about google for a moment. They give their employees time to be creative, could they thrive if they went with a communistic model?

Communism is against human nature, that's why it's failed. People only allow themselves to be oppressed for so long. Then again, China kinda goes against what I believe should have gone on for that long. But I guess in some cultures traditions are a little bit harder to break than in others.

Well, if you think that creativity didn't exist in sovjet then you are wrong. Many invasions was made there, such as the laser, the weather-controlling-machine and they putted a man in the space before anyone else.

Anyway, I prefer capitalism personally because communism needs too much patriotism to work.

Fundamentally, communism isn't a terrible idea. The problem with communism is that the best thing about it is also the worst...

    All citizens are treated equally.

From an idealistic viewpoint, that is great. In real world practice it doesn't work because it gives people no incentive to excel at anything.

You could be the head of an oil company or a janitor and you get paid (and treated) the same. You aren't going to get a raise, a nicer house, a promotion or anything else... If there is no incentive to be better at anything, it's human nature to just do the minimum to get the job done.

It's also based on lies, I've had family over there. I've been to the east block in 1986 and it was ugly. You don't know or understand unless you see and feel it for yourself, not on a tourist bus, but hanging out with people who are being subjected to that sort of life.
Very true, and the fact that they needed a wall to keep people in, should speak volumes for itself.
