I've made a sitemap for a nightclub site with events and a gallery so it needs to be dynamic hence I used asp to generate the XML. The sitemap works and initially had no errors. Now that the site has been used for a bit and events have come and gone and some galleries I created have been deleted, Google says the sitemap has errors (missing / unreachable pages due to changes / deleting in the database). My question is this - how much of a problem is this? Will Google get really pissed off with the sitemap changing so much and take the site less seriously? Should I redesign the site so that the 'dead' pages are archived? Will that make Google happier? I am a little worried about the red ERROR word in the Google sitemap manager... Thank you for taking the time to read this! Jk
I tend to think 404s in general should be avoided when possible. And, well, I also believe in only deleting content if absolute necessary
If your site was already indexed by google, I will suggest you removing the sitemap files uploaded to google. Sitemap doesn't help you too much, and sometimes will make problem for you. Just like yours.
