I just wanted to share this positive experience I've had with you guys. Dreamhost is awesome. I've hardly had any problems with them and their customer service is top notch. Today is a perfect example of this. I needed a feature that they don't normally provide, but they were really accommodating and understanding and got it set up for me within an hour (especially amazing because I filed the request after business hours). I don't know of many hosts who would do this. And I know none who will do it for the price. I originally signed up with Dreamhost because of the price with a coupon, but when my two years is up I will gladly renew my hosting contract for full price. If you're looking for a hosting company, I strongly recommend Dreamhost. (Look around the net for coupons, you can get $97 off. I'm not going to provide a coupon code here because it would invalidate my statements)

I have heard the complete opposite. I have several friends that use them and cannot wait to get their sites away from them. The servers are slow and they have had no luck with tech support. Mind you this is not first hand knowledge this is just hearsay. I have noticed a friend of mines site runs very slow and he is on DH.
The problem with dreamhost is with mysql, it basically runs slower than it should. So it is only a problem with sites with a large database.
If it comes to a static site no database for the price they are really good. It's when you try to add a database, add an email or configure a site & sometimes have to wait 15 minutes or longer it gets a little annoying.
I moved my sites off as soon as I could, I had my own servers a long time ago but continued to use them because I knew all my sites would take weeks to move, after continuous outages I moved all my sites out. I know many people also who have had awful experiences. Everything is just slow. They arent for business hosting definately.
Hmm, Well, before I got into the hosting business myself I used a company called xs-host.com I continue to refer people to them now, that was about 5 years ago. Its not a huge company like the big guns but the support is second to none. Although that was 5 years ago so I have no idea what its like now. If really depends what you want, if you just want something low budget and fast you can deifnatley find the right package for you if you look hard. If you want some free hosting on our servers I dont mind setting you up, you would be sharing with less then 100 other sites and the servers dual xeons. We use it for hosting our main www.invision-gaming.co.uk although the server we use is very overkill for what its used.
