Nothing in Peoples Republic of California makes sense. They vote their own enslavement.

Consider this. For the most part, the Democratic ticket got voted in across the state of California, exactly the opposite of what is going on in the rest of the country. Our voters approved a simple majority(rather than the 2/3 majority) to get the bloated and unfunded budgets passed more easily. We put Jerry Brown, the guy who brought unionization to state labor(and associated bloated pensions) back into office. At 12.4% official unemployment, I guess the voters figured more Democratic social programs might fix our economy.

I can only attribute the vote to one of two things:

    1. More democrats showed up to vote than Republicans in California
    2. Arnold Schwarzenegger's destruction of the Republican brand in California

Both are actually true. 16% of Californias voters were freshly minted Latino Democrats. Arnold ran as an outsider with no strings attached and, once elected, caved to the state legislators time after time, despite the fact he had line item veto. Meg Whitman tried to run as a self funded outsider, and voters said no thanks to another Arnold.

It goes to show you getting a bad candidate elected from your own party may cost you two election cycles. Makes me very thankful McCain didnt get elected.

Anyway, I found it interesting that legalized Marijuana failed to pass with a Democratic majority voting. I'm pretty sure that if the Republicans had outnumbered, pot would now be legal. All my friends supported it. How strange is that.

Well, to bad for their cause it failed. Seemed reasonable enough for personal use.

If it was the ingrained and draconian gov't propaganda over the eons of cannabis existence that motivated the masses subconsciously it is an awful harbinger for the free Spirit of those imperiled.

They had no ads for it ANYWHERE! and the few that they did, they were targeting people that would already vote yes. Very bad marketing, didn't inform the people well.

People still get Med cards, although I know for a fact the prices would have dropped dramatically

Maybe smoking a lot of pot doesn't make one a brilliant and energetic campaigner? :p

I don't have any quotes or links but I heard the medical marijuana people were against this bill. They now have their extremely high profit businesses to protect. Funny how nearly everything boils down to people protecting their $$$ with legislation at the end of the day.
