Proposal - no thread rating in BUY area

    Hi,

As probably some of you know, I run a directory submission service. Have been doing it for 3 months, it goes great, and ALL (i mean ALL, 100%) of the feedback received in our service thread is good or very good. This is why I am very nervous that the thread rating is continuosly decreasing, now it is 3.66. The only cause I find for this is that my competition gives me bad rating, to affect my reputation among users. Anyway, the users who actually read my thread will see that I offer a high quality service, but some won't read it because of the poor thread rating.

This is why i make this proposal - no thread rating in BUY area. The iTrader reputation is enough there. The thread rating may be usefull in other areas, but not in the BUY area....

What do you think about this ?

I actually rarely look at the thread rating anyway.

So, it wouldn't really matter to me.

Did you give a 5 star to yourself in the first place?

I went through many sales thread and i have a feeling that no one will give negative rating unless you give yourself a 5 star in the first place.

yfs1, i watched this closely, and the first 3 gave it 5 stars => 15 points. When i opened this thread the average was 3.66 from 6 voters => 22 points in total. So voters #4,#5,#6 gave the thread 7 points in total !!! and there were no complains regarding the service.... get my point ?

But the end result is 4 stars so it all evens out and you are left with a good thread ranking.

Plus the stars make the thread stand out more anyway.

Why don't you give yourself a 5 to even it out more?

I have noticed many sellers rate their threads five stars right off the bat. When I see stars I usually think self promoters.

That I could start a thread and rate it right off the bat.

Learn something new every day in this forum.

I echo the echoers in here, I never look at all the little stars and icons.

I do notice the star thing, coz it makes thread stick out off the crowd,
but whether or not I am going to buy the service doesn't really depend on how many stars does that thread have. :)

Someone who is genuinely interested in your service will read the thread or check your iTrader feedback. The number of stars doesn't mean jack to most as it's too easy to manipulate.

You'd be surprised at how may threads with zero replies and one view (OP) are rated 5 stars.

Is it possible to make it so that you cannot rate your own thread? surely that would solve half the problem.
