Yes, for my site this would interfere with the actual purpose of my site: people reading articles and quotes. You can have custom channels in combination with URL-channels any time already. I have that all over the place. Recently they added the option to have several (up to 5) custom channels per ad-unit. Well, the rule to have a maximum of 3 ad-units per page would still hold. So if adding this means you now have 4, the last one in the code will be ignored anyhow...
In the email google mentions one of our sites...how did they pick that site? The one they emailed me about isn't really one of my best ones. Should i change to 300x250 on all of them too?
I got one myself too and without any much thinking, I gave it a shot and it turn OUT to be a great SUCCESS! i got so many clicks from that ad format.!!!! GOOD THING TO GO guys.
I'm going to give this a try on 2 to 4 pages of a site that has more than 1000 pages. While the custom channels seem to limit the # of custom channels, the email about this program implied you should use it as much as possible. Is there a change in rules?
As you can easily see at first post: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2190227&postcount=1 This thread started today .
I got the email yesterday. I only needed to switch 336x280 to 300x250 because the ad block was already above the fold. The site was PR5. The didn't send the email to my adsense account email, rather the email I have listed at the domain. So I assume it was a "hand picked" site for that reason. I run two main channels on the site, so far after the change results are inconclusive. Day 1 Channel 1: 40% drop Channel 2: 50% increase Interesting, I thought the ads looked basically the same to a visitor, 336x280 and 300x250, I was wrong. I will be split testing these formats at other sites in the near future.
I got this email too, and at a rather odd moment because I was actually considering swapping 1 or 2 AS ads with AdBrites (they pay me more per click), plus I'm in the middle of a site redesign with ad placement a major element... we'll see what happens
this seems to be all about product placement and one wonders whether the only people who will benefit are Google when last did u climb out your car to click on that billboard on the side of the highway we have been conned into devaluing our own product (website) well, unless your site is really lousy to start with
This is a new feature from Google call Site-Targeted Ads. You can set this up in your adsense account. I would like to post the link, but I dont have enough posts
You mean ad placement channels? https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=50691 "Site-Targeted Ads" are very old. And the email specifically calls them Custom placement packs multiple times.
Did any one recieve this email, that is already using 300x250 banners above the fold, because after read some other forums it seem that this mite just be a mas email that Google is sending out to people that is not using this ad format. looks like a canned email because some people a getting this on there wost proforming site in there adsense portfolio. I could be wrong.
