Proper link devolpment for better site rank?

Heres the problem im facing with one of my websites. I have ok PR on main page and when people search stuff that my site has, they seem to always hit the main page.

so when i build backlinks, should i aim the backlink to the homepage and spread them out to inner pages? also, having more inner pages, will you have better rank on main page since all the inner pages have a link to homepage?

 

You should also try to get some backlinks for inner pages. In my experience targeted searches that land on an internal page often convert better.

 

Diversifying link page and anchor text will make your link building effort look natural. Also,it help you to promote your websites inner pages as well.

 

Spread your linkbuilding out, but also focus it more towards your key pages.
