Proper etiquette for changing a listing?

    I know some directories have logins and such and that is no problem getting a link changed... but I have moved several pages/sites and I am trying to get as many backlinks redirected the new url as possible. I am using 301s but it is clear to me that the search engines are slow as molasses in counting this as links.

    So when it comes to directories with no direct means of me changing my listing, how do you suggest I do it? Would you prefer I just resubmit the new site with the new url? Would you prefer an e-mail requesting a change?

    What is the best way for me to approach this with various directory owners?
