Hi, I have registered some .com and .net domain, and I would like to know what kind of documents I can print in order to prove that I'm the legal owner of those domains.I don't have any legal problems right now but I just want to have some kind of document, just in case.My registrar has send me only a receipt of purchase but it's not in English. Is that enough or can I get something more "official",from ICANN for example? Thanks
Hi, Anyone can check the owner of a domain by viewing the WHOIS records. (Not sure if this answer helps you.) BTW, I don't think there is any 'official' documents from ICANN given to registrants.
Thanks for the answer openforsale.com .I found out that my registrar is a reseller of eNom.com,so I went here:http://www.enom.com/domains/whois.asp and typed my domain name, the output was correct(my name,my address,etc.).So if I just print the output page of http://www.enom.com/domains/whois.asp is that ok?I mean is it considered a legal document?
Im not sure if thats considered a legal document, but a whois is the norm for domain proof. Quick google search couldnt answer that either. For general whois, I use whois.sc (domaintools.com). Great site.
Well, this isn't necessarily considered as "legal" proof, but these can help: 1. Copy of current WHOIS record. 2. Copy of current records inside your account. 3. Receipt of payment. 4. Proof of existence of registrant (e.g. ID for person, registration papers for LLC, etc.). Those are some ideas, though they're not necessarily "authoritative".
