I've been monitoring the kw CONDOS in different city's SERP's, including NYC, Boston, & Philadelphia If you go on google and put in NEW YORK CONDOS http://www.city realty.com/ comes up #1 However BostonCondos .com come up #1... which led me to believe domain name is the #1 most important factor............. but now I realize from searching NYC that it really makes no difference What do you guys think???
Keywords in your domain name will certainly help in the short term. In the long term however the advantage seems to vanish.
I searched SAN FRANCISCO CONDOS and http://www.soma pro.com/ came up.... Their website stinks... but they're #1.... I wonder why Anways... its more proof domain name might not matter.............. or possibly all things being equal, the better domain name will inch above?
I find that having a meaningful domain name with keywords in it makes it easier to get links back to my sites with those keywords in the link text. So even if having the domain name detroitswimmingpools.com doesn't help your rankings with the search engines for "Detroit Swimming Pools" it makes it easier to get links back to the site with the phrase "Detroit Swimming Pools" in the link text.
Yes, it matters. But it's not the only factor. Google ranks a site for a given keyword according to it's algorithm based on incidence/page "strength" in these four factors: intitle: If and where the phrase appears in the title and htag inurl: " " the url inanchor: if and how frequently the phrase appears in linked anchor text pointing to the site and internally. intext: if and how frequently the phrase appears in the text of the page. So a site which is strong in anchors pointing to the homepage can beat out sites with the inurl adavantage. Check out the "allin" search for your keyphrases on the McDar Google Dance tool to see the ranking for each factor...you'll learn a lot about SEO. The four sites beating NY-Condos.com all have a PR5 or 4...probably more backlinks...and great SEO. Look at the top site, for example. The have the keywords linked to subpages in the main content...a wise move. You may as well call this thread..."proof that all SEO factors matter." check that the #4 site also has it inunrl... condos.wirednewyork.com
Domain is not the only thing that matters in SEO !! There are hell lots of other thinks which matters alot !!
Keywords in domain are a benefit and they do matter. BUT this surely isn't the most important factor.
As mentioned in the previous posts, I believe it does help but the domain alone is not good enough to keep you in that top spot. Other sites that perform better in other areas will rank above you as the authority and SEO in general will be better opposed to a site that has just got the keywords/phrases in its domain and lacks in other areas such as age, backlinks, etc
relevant keywords in the domain name can increase the chance that a searcher will click on your site in the SERPs
Your a noob making idiot teorys .... It does mather many things mather but this doesn't make the most important thing in ranking ....
