I am a newcomer and new to the world of web promotion. But still i have read all about search engine rankings and PPC and in our company there are others working on it. Now i have been assinged to find other ways to promote our website. When i searched google, i found many sites selling traffic through emails and other means. I am looking for advice from experinced people like you who have tested it all. What options do i have to get good traffic if i have money for that( but not enough for TV ads).
The answer to your question is not to go with those people selling traffic, most of them are fraudulent. I will advice you to build up the content of your site and optimise this pages with keywords that are being searched in your niche (a good seo tool can get you the keywords) and you should never stop adding new contents, then you should get enough links to your site from other webmasters in your niche on a regular basis (reciprocal linking). This can be tedious since you are new, i will advice you to get a good seo tool to do this for you probably one that is not so expensive. Then, submit your site to the top search engines. You shoud start seeing lots of traffic after this.

Well i doesn't know what business you are running, but You can try press releases they are normally a good promotion method. Although They Have to Be written properly. Article Marketing and Video Marketing should also be a good thing for getting traffic to your site. Buying traffic well I would buy a link on other sites. Some people still have success with banners, but many say they haven't had any success with them. Possibly because of the thing called banner blindness

Have you tried signing up for google alerts for certain question or terms such as "how do i get a job" etc and once google alerts you to these urls, simply go there and offer your help? Of course, include a small mention of your site also
Try writing a press release or submiting stories about your site to social networks. You can also make a You Tube Video which can be great publicity.

Well then you aren't paying for just views you only paying for people who actually clickthrough to your website. So that should work pretty well.
If you have money and wait to gain traffic excluding search engines, you will want to look into buying advertising. Creating a quality site banner and paying for it's placement in topic relevant sites can bring in a large amount of traffic. Most people don't do this as it cost's...but if you have the budget for it then it's worth doing.
Have you thought about advertising in inflight magazines? Advertisers see huge benefits from this. What sort of business are you in?
