It is not uncommon for directory owners to use their directory email templates to suggest a listing in another directory that they own. Few take full advantage of all of the opportunities that templates offer. Make sure that you are sending a contact email not only when a listing is confirmed, but also as soon as a submission is made and when a site is rejected. If you promote any web site promotion service in addition to your directories, take full advantage of this form of contact with your target audience.
i also have come to believe Email is a powerful medium of advertising,... but with so much spam all around it is difficult to stand apart, I have recently switched over to a full blown HTML template email system, with information on the latest sites & articles, .... from the default which phpLD has,... though we are still work in progress, i strongly believe it will work for the good. "i also have come to believe Email is a powerful medium of advertising" Email contact with directory customers can be very helpful- particularly if you run a special offer.
Use the templates to promote other directories or offers that would be of interest to SEO's. My Directory Promotion Service would list your site of the templates of three of my directories. Great way to get exposure to paying directory customers.
I have used it and I can say that it does work to a certain extent to expose the sites you are promoting.
A good work-around to this is to have a checkbox on your submit page which the submitter can check themselves if they wish to receive email updates. To add onto that, after they submit, you can send another email to allow them to confirm their request via a double opt-in to receive the emails. It would definitely avoid you from having to answers emails like mine
yes, my bad, i started working inside out,.... im working on an unsubscribe module, and a newsletter box,... once that in place i will put a check box there too! Thanx M.
