Hello, all! Please, give me some advice on promotion. Here is the problem. I'm working on my website which can help to improve vocabulary. People can learn some new foreing words using my service. The site is: http://wordsteps.com So, I'm from Russian and in Russia I made some tricks to raise rase it's popularity (I used press-relises and very popular site habr.ru, which has about 80k unique visitors a day and my article about WordSteps was on the main page for a day). But I have really small understanding where to promote my site in the internet. WordSteps is an international service, so I want to invise some foreing people on the site. I tried to publish press-releases on more than 50 sites but have only 200 unique visitors. I tried to register it in StumbleUpon - only 60 views. Some good resources about startups, like Crunch, KillerSturtups don't want to publish any articles. Can you give some interesting advices how to promote, plz?
You need to do some SEO work on your site. The competition in US to place in SERPS is MUCH TOUGHER. Everyone is competing to be in the first page for their particular keywords. To Google and Yahoo, content is KEY. For Bing they rely most on quantity of backlinks, ALTHOUGH they have started to consider QUALITY over QUANTITY!!!

Language schools should be a main target here. Thousands of students to target. Maybe find a few translation services online and see if you can get good ad prices with them.

Search education sites and offer link exchange with them. you know every education website views by students and your site need that students get interest but it is far from students so exchange links with education, results, courses, model papers, guess papers site that is mostly search student. I run a result site and i exchange some links that site visited more than I exacted. Student will visit your website but you have to send to them.
