Make a big animated gif with a flashing red and blue background that says: Don't click here, and hyperlink it to your site.

I'm new to this myspace stuff. Do you experienced people think that joining groups related to your site (like let's say I join a travel group) and then posting messages would be an effective way to get some visitors to my site?

can anyone still help me out and tell me whats the best methods on promoting on myspace?

Does it work basically by making loads of friends, then submitting comments linking to your site?

    or is there another way?

The groups are already huge. I just need someone to promote my sites on those groups message boards...
Also, does anyone bother replying to their messages?

I wouldn't even waste my time spamming myspace, and yes its spam. Plus all they have to do is disable people posting external links in the comments or anywhere on the site. Ebay doesn't allow links on auctions so I'm sure myspace can do the same. Your taking money away from the paying advertisers that are on that site. You might have a short run until they ban your account and ip but is it worth it?

Use your brain and get real traffic. :)

This is taken out of the terms on myspace

"Non Commercial Use by Members. The Website is for the personal use of Members only and may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors except those that are specifically endorsed or approved by the management of MySpace.com. Illegal and/or unauthorized use of the Website, including collecting usernames and/or email addresses of Members by electronic or other means for the purpose of sending unsolicited email or unauthorized framing of or linking to the Website will be investigated. Commercial advertisements, affiliate links, and other forms of solicitation may be removed from member profiles without notice and may result in termination of membership privileges. Appropriate legal action will be taken by MySpace.com for any illegal or unauthorized use of the Website."

If you think a 600 million dollar company can't sue you think again.

if you think that spam is the biggest problem over there, think again.

myspace.com claims to have dedicated 1/3 of their workforce to cleaning up certain undesireable elements of their population... and it's not spammers that i'm referring to.

myspace doesn't have any personnel left to fight spam, so they sure aren't going to be suing anyone for it.

They already sued people do a google search. And I never said that spam was the biggest problem over there. If you need to resort to spam you should get a day job. :)
