Promoting online games directory?

Okay, I've recently started to work on one of my friend's gaming sites for him and its currently average 2,000 daily unique visitors a day.

I was wondering what new ways could I do to promote the site? It's listed in DMOZ and currently ranks #1 on google for web games.

What else can I do to increase its traffic? I've recently gone through and SEO'd all the pages with unique descriptions, header tags, and unique titles per page.

Would stumble work for his site though? I was telling him about adwords, but I'm not sure what his budget is.

Web games is a very good keyword. Congratulations on that one. I would also agree with trying to get some traffic from bookmarking sites. Maybe add a few buttons to your site so people can easily bookmark it.

It doesn't bring in a lot of traffic though. Thanks. Will it be hard to promote on stumble?

you can sign up for banner exchange website such as moregamers.com, funklicks.com and playertraffic.com you get thousands of free impressions on sign up. this brings in a decent amount of traffic specially if you have a lot of impressions per day

you can get about an extra 200 uniques per day if you have a good banner that attracts others and with a decent amount of impressions.

also for me stumble works great. i get around 100 visitors per day from stumbles. buy a few services from digital point. i know two guys from DP in case you are interested.

try buying some banners and good links that attract traffic.

also try focusing on other competitive keywords like "free online games" and "free games"

i hope this is helpful for you.

Thanks for the tips mate. I'm currently trying to get it more indexed pages, getting the profiles ranked - and promoting via link exchanges. I'll try stumble upon real soon. So, banner exchanges are worth it?

Personally I think banner exchanges are a waste of your time. You get more clicks away from your site than into your site.

Actually I have been monitoring an arcade that I run (www.razzling.com) and my arcade banner exchanges give me more clicks than I send out. It really depends on your banner! I have banners that are very attractive and receive a very high CTR.

    It makes all the difference.

Doesn't it make your site load slower because of the banner exchanges' banners loading and such?
