Promoting my site... HOW and HOW MUCH!

hi there,

I have a site on WeightLoss...
The site is 2-3 months old. Its getting traffic from MSN and Yahoo Search! for keywords like "weight loss blog" , "weight loss exercise" , "weight loss" , etc.... Google is next to zero...

Can you recommend me some ways to generate traffic for this site. And why is the ranking in Google so low...

I am doing blog commenting... but little...
any suggestion please...

You have absolutely no backlinks of value, you need to build some quality links if you want to rank for anything in such a competitive niche.

There is a rumored time delay factor (sand box) that all new sites seem to be placed in for 6 months. Since your site is ~3 months old, then this is the problem.

But you need to clean up the content and the On-Page SEO, specificlly the title tag.

what about autoblogging?what i know it is easy to make it and just focus for the advertising...
i want doit but cause of my budget..One site that i know for submit our site to search engine is mypagerank...
i am totally newbie to become success..

 

I would guess you don't rank well on Google because the site is so new. For such a tough niche, i think your site needs to get more "mature"...wait 6months or so and see where it is by then.

 

The site doesn't have the quality needed to get them naturally, so buy them.

 

Would Myspace be a good backlink? lol

 

The niche you've chosen is very competitive.

Do some research and target some long tail keywords by using the Adwords Keyword tool.

As Vic said, buying links is one thing that you can do, if you are willing to splash out $$$

 

Go out in the community and start contributing without spamming. As others have said weight loss is very competitive. You should aim to take a specific part of the market (regional, local, etc) and then build up from there. Think of it like a staircase, you need to go one at a time to reach the top.

Buying links? Ehhh... You can do yourself better than that.

You build quality links, do promote site use target keywords.

 

Since the content is unique, why not bookmark some articles on various bookmarking sites and generate some link bait articles. hint : new year just round the corner.

Try to submit your articles to Digg. You may not get dugg much and not get much traffic from there, but Google sure loves Digg,and from my personal experience, even if your blog does not get ranked highly, your digg submission would, and you might get search engine traffic from there.

More close to your problem, submitting it to Digg, also makes Google index your page and so, you might start seeing some search engine value. Try the same with other social bookmarking websites like Delicious, reddit, etc.

One additional suggestion - you could probably change your title from 'Weightloss blog' to 'How to lose weight'.

Directory submissions, article marketing, link trading and exchanging and buying, good keyword selection, good content, rss submission, social bookmarks, purchasing adsense safe traffic (which doesn't help your revenue, its just for seeing some good results in awstats )

How much?

Money worth: depends on your budget but definitely will cost more than 20$ (if you are going to outsource majority of them)

Time worth: depends on your past experience. else, you can surf this forum to know more on where to promote.. time taken will be incessant (if you are doing by yourself and want to keep going)
