    Howdy Folks,

I have a friend who will be pressing an album in the near future and is looking for the best way to promote his presence on the web.

I have suggested a few methods and am looking for some feed back

He has some Web 2.0 properties that he is using to try and develop his fan base.

I have suggested that he undertake the following

    1. Try and get one of his videos to go viral
    2. Submit a press release to all the free PR sites
    3. A legit music video on you tube
    4. SEO it up ( get listed for new music keywords in google)

He is essentially the product I would be promoting, basically I am asking if anyone has attempted to do this type of marketing in todays age.

any other suggestions would be appreciated thanks!

Well, you really don't want to just upload a video and hope for it to go viral as you say in #1. That's not marketing, that's throwing a rock at the wall hoping it will stick, of course you can cross you fingers and hope, but if you're a marketer, BE A MARKETER.

If your friend is good, sure he could probably have a chance to go viral. But wouldn't you want to increase that chance to close to 100%? Promote that video and with more people who see it, the more chances they'll share it or put it on their website. Don't put up a video and hope for the best.

But, everything else looks good, one way to go about promoting the video is try submitting a few press releases for his music video.

Make an account on all the most popular social networks, like Twitter and Facebook. But you probably know that already. :p
