There are many forums on webmaster related issues, and there will be many more coming up from those aspiring to make a forum on such topic. I have been given a task to promote a webmaster related forum. I wanted views of the experts and new members on this forum regarding the same. What do you think will help us to keep the things working at a better pace ? I was thinking of two things 1. Revenue Sharing (nothing new, most forums do, so we will also go for it) 2. Paying per post ( 5 cents to 10 cents per post depending on general quality of writing of a person) there is a poll also attached, please do give a view if you have some time to do so. thanks Gurpreet
i`d join a small forum if a friend would tell me to and if i would like the members, the subject etc.
As well.. some offers like 1 free domain on 40-50 posts or something like that.. and yeah good mods matter
Yes, that's the most important part. You need someone who know shit... Did you see DP doing any promotion? It is just like myspace. Get a famous band sign up, their fans will follow IMO pay for post won't work unless you intention is to sell your forum. And how much money can you spend on it and Revenue Sharing is useless...did you earn you first penny from DP yet
its important to have quality members then paying, moderators might affect depends. revenue sharing good option.
People generally join a Webmaster forum because they are looking for information and want to learn. At this point I would only join another forum if it offered something new that can’t be found in the forums I am currently a member.
Nice point made, but how to get people hooked to something that might have already been in discussion on top forums like WMW, DP or SP
and invite some female webmaster, or at least someone with a female avatar, or just a few member to pretend they are a woman...
I created a thread questioning how to kick off a webmaster's forum not too long ago; you may be able to find some answers there.
Pay per post would get kind of tricky, espcially if somone has to manually evaluate each post and make sure it is quality, sounds like LOTS of time to me.
though beware of spammers, i have seen many coming around , registring and advertising 1st post and they are off . u can pay for 1 post a day so the members will stay in your forum
Well, don't get me started on WMW or SP. Let's just say, both of them are missing out on areas of "gentle human touch" (even though SP has some very good mods, too). DP has a lot, but I'm sure you can come up with something that you wished DP had, and instead of suggesting it here, implement it on your own forum. Think outside of the box - Mike
