Promoting A Video Site

    Hi,

    Does anyone know how video sites such as youtube are promoted?

    I was considering buying a clone script but can't find any info on promoting this kind of site.

    Also, are Adsense and banner advertising the only methods of profiting from them?

    I would suggest putting your efforts into somthing more realistic or come up with something new.

    No, I'm not trying to BE THE NEXT youtube. I may go in a niche area, I was just asking about promotion and monetisation of video sites in general, that's all :)

    One great advertising technique for a video site is creating a system that allows users to embed the videos off your site to their site or other forums. You'd of course need to have your logo and website information on the video player to receive hits back.

    Besides that I don't know, that's probably one of the hardest markets besides the online game world.

    Does anyone know if there are certain types of directories e.g. social bookmarking directories that are suitable for video sites to be submitted to?
