I really don't know any successful ways to promote a site. Stumbleupon traffic is complete crap. Putting links in sigs is not very successful. Using digg and yahoo answers are both shamed upon and not really legal by their tos. People say you should only use adwords for affiliates because it's so expensive. SEO can be impossible for some keywords and expensive maintain. Telling friends about it can only reach a small group of people.
You can find a lot of info to improve the traffic of your site under the business -traffic section. Pose your question there to get a better response or ask the mod to move this post there
WOW! you is just a down person, if you are not going to do any of these ways to get traffic, you can do 2 things. Give up or pick 2 or 3 of them and go for it.

Stay focus on them, this is not a race. slow and steady things go. down person = thinks bad about everything.
Have you tried either purchasing links or exchanging links on another relevant site (related to your niche) ?? Other that that, you have pretty much mentioned every other way that I could imagine possible, without getting organic traffic from search engines. Google Adwords or YPN is another way of course.
I think the content of your site is the key,1,you can post nice information for your user,so your user will stick with your site,2,buy your site traffic.
