Promoting a new local classifieds website

    Hi

    I am about to roll out a local classifieds website for my local town as there is currently no other website that caters for this area specifically. I am planning to do a little bit of PPC and then quite a big leaflet drop. Does anyone have any other ideas or tips on how I can get people to post their items for sale on my site?

    Just off the top of my head...
    Maybe an ad on craigslist, if that's allowed. Do you have a local year-round flea market where you live? Maybe hand out some flyers to the vendors. They might list some of their products with you. A bumper sticker with the URL on the back of your car might attract some local attention.

    you should probably put an ad where the people you are trying to attract alreasy are.....your local newspaper.

    if its a local thing why not try the local newspaper ? or write letter to business ? local press release ?
